Janitzio

by  Agustín Lara

como brilla la luna sobre el lago de cristal;

Silver nets of such a delicate lace

Butterflies that sleep during the sapphire night,

How the moon shines over the crystal lake;

the way your eyes glow after  you have cried

Silver serenade

Complaints to the ungrateful girl I lost because of my unfaithfulness,

Glorious full moon, a story that vanishes,

Illusions that are lost and will never return

If your leaving kills me, if uncertainty drowns me

If you are not clement and liberate me from this slavery

let the waters take my tears and pain,

let Janitzio carry of the perfume of my love

let Janitzio carry of the perfume of my love.
